Easy Chocolate Mousse

- Preparation time: 20 min
- Chilling time: 2 hrs
- Ingredients
- 7 oz (200g) plain chocolate, broken into pieces
- 1 oz (25g) butter, melted
- 3 tbsp orange flavoured liqueur, brandy or rum
- quarter pint (150ml) double cream
- 3 egg whites
- 2 tbsp caster sugar
- cocoa powder, for dusting
- Method
- Melt the chocolate, then stir in the butter and liqueur/brandy/rum.
- Stir gently until smooth.
- Lightly whip the cream.
- Whisk the egg whites in a separate bowl until they form stiff peaks, whisk in the sugar.
- Fold the cream, then the egg whites into the melted chocolate mixture, using a metal spoon.
- Turn the mousse into six small dishes or glasses and chill for at least 2 hours until set.
- Before serving, dust with cocoa powder.
