- Ingredients
8 oz (225g) self-raising flour
Good pinch of salt
1-2 oz (25-50g) butter or margarine
1 oz (25g) sugar
Milk to mix
- Method
- Sieve the flour into a bowl.
- Rub in the butter then add the sugar and salt.
- Mix to a soft rolling consistency with the milk.
- Roll out to half to three quarters inch in thickness and cut into required shapes.
- Place onto a greased tray.
- Bake in a hot oven gas mark 7-8 for approx 10 minutes.
- To test if cooked press firmly at the sides, scones are cooked when firm to touch.
