Madeira Cake

- Cooking time: 1½ hrs
- Ingredients
- 8 oz (225g) Butter
12 oz (350g) Self-raising Flour
4 tablespoons of milk
6 oz (175g) Caster Sugar
2 Eggs
- Method
- Cream the butter and sugar in a basin with a mixer.
- Add the eggs and milk and again beat thoroughly.
- Add the flour and stir lightly.
- Spoon the mixture into a well-papered, greased tin.
- Before putting in the oven, sprinkle with sugar and lay on peel if desired.
- Cook for 1.5 hours in a moderate oven.
