Madeira Cake

  • Preparation time: 15 mins
  • Cooking time: 1½ hrs

  • Ingredients
  • 8 oz (225g) Butter
    12 oz (350g) Self-raising Flour
    4 tablespoons of milk
    6 oz (175g) Caster Sugar
    2 Eggs

  • Method

  • Cream the butter and sugar in a basin with a mixer.
  • Add the eggs and milk and again beat thoroughly.
  • Add the flour and stir lightly.
  • Spoon the mixture into a well-papered, greased tin.
  • Before putting in the oven, sprinkle with sugar and lay on peel if desired.
  • Cook for 1.5 hours in a moderate oven.
